It’s tough sometimes when your schedule gets thrown off. I try to follow an order that I set for myself when I sit down to draw, and that usually helps me make progress. Lately we’ve had to travel a good bit and will still be visiting a few more places throughout next week, which means the days we are home are spent recovering or packing for the next trip.
Honestly though, I don’t think I would change anything. It will probably be a while before we reach a level of stability where I can actually aim for my hourly goal, but being away from the computer keeps me thinking about new ideas and concepts. I think when I’m just sitting in front of the computer trying to come up with ideas, nothing flows. But whenever I go out for a bit to walk or go up to the store, I suddenly have tons of ideas and can draw for hours.
I guess there really isn’t a guide on how to do this the right way, and I’m going to be experimenting a lot over the next few months until I figure out something that works for me. Until that happens, I’ll just keep drawing when I get a chance.
